Picture this – you are new to the whole world of medical marijuana and just so happened to successfully apply and be approved for your brand new medical marijuana card. You’ve been waiting all week for this card to finally show up in the mail so you can finally go buy some weed legally. You get home from work one day to find that the card has arrived, so you hop back into your car and head to the nearest cannabis dispensary in your area. Once you’re there, you may feel a bit overwhelmed.
There are so many people, so many different products to choose from, and each one can feel a little bit confusing. Also, you are starting to realize that cannabis can actually be a bit pricey as well. However, you come across some other packages of weed that are significantly cheaper than the rest, though the packages say that the weed is ‘seeded’. You may think to yourself, it’s cheaper so it must be worse? Or people just don’t like it as much? See, this is a common occurrence for new marijuana users who are not totally familiar with the medical marijuana industry. When it comes to things like seeded weed, many medical patients may not really know what to do with it.
After all, it is extremely cheap, but can you actually smoke it or use it? You may think that cannabis seeds are still very natural, just like the rest of the plant. However, there may be a lot more to it than that. Today we are going to be talking about seeded weed and why it’s so cheap. Most importantly, we are going to be talking about if it is okay to smoke or not.
So what’s the deal with seeded weed? Can you smoke it or not? Well, not really. We definitely don’t recommend smoking weed with seeds in it. Especially when it comes to inhaling dangerous carcinogens and organic matter, smoking seeded weed can be a bit of a problem. So what’s the point of seeded weed at dispensaries if you can’t even smoke it? Well, it basically comes down to the fact that seeded weed is an accident. You see, most growers will tell you that it is extremely important to keep male and female plants apart from each other during the growing process.
Yes, gender can be brought up when we are talking about plants as well. Sometimes, goof ups happen at the greenhouse and there is some seeded weed that gets produced. Seeded weed happens when a male plant touches a female plant. Sometimes this cannabis will be chopped up and used as fertilizer or simply burned and disposed of.

However, there is a small market for weed seeds even though they are not used to smoke. It turns out that, just like many other seeds, marijuana seeds have some real health benefits. These health benefits are not gained from smoking them, however. Marijuana seeds actually are a very nutritious resource for certain vitamins and fats that are good for your body. They can also be great sources of plant-based protein. Think of eating something like chia seeds!
So should you buy the next seeded weed you find at the dispensary just because you can get it at a discount? Well, that depends on what you want to do with it. If you are looking for some cheap weed to smoke, then probably look for a different flash sale. However, if you want to get involved in the medical marijuana seed market for growing your own plants or putting them in smoothies, I’m all for it!
